Production AI systems and digital engineering for enterprise teams.Explore our work
A phased modernization program spanning architecture, API redesign, and performance optimization for a regulated financial product.
Overview
A regulated financial product had outgrown its monolith: release trains measured in months, mobile ambitions blocked by APIs that were never designed for them, and performance complaints from enterprise accounts. We led a phased modernization—strangler migrations, new API boundaries, and observability—so the business could keep shipping while the foundation changed underneath.

Compliance and uptime constraints meant big-bang rewrites were off the table. Every cutover needed rollback paths, parity checks, and sign-off from risk. Mobile required lean APIs and consistent auth, but the monolith mixed concerns that made safe extraction slow without a map.
What we delivered
We introduced a strangler pattern around the highest-change domains first—customer profile and reporting—while instrumenting latency and error budgets before touching money paths. New services spoke through an API gateway with versioned contracts; mobile consumed BFF endpoints shaped for screen flows.
Phased delivery with clear acceptance criteria at each step.
How we deliver
Each phase ended with measurable parity: same outputs, better latency, documented rollback. We kept a public architecture decision record so internal teams knew what was stable vs. in flux.
Tangible outputs the client team owned at handoff—not slide artifacts.
